Whitetail Rut Activity
« on: November 12, 2021, 10:30:02 AM »
Haven’t seen a thread posted this year for whitetail rut activity observations so I figured I’d start one.

Saw a few chasing does this morning in 121, but hard to find a place to park on state or open land. Way more hunters than usual, suspect the weekend will be a zoo. Still not what I'd call full rut activity.

:bash: torn between trying a very busy spot where I know there were doe in the early season or a little more seclusion but not nearly as much doe activity....

Personally, I'd choose quality over quantity.

Yesterday in 121, I saw 3 spots that a buck was scraping and I got one of those on a trail cam.

Saw 3 small bucks this evening with the first rut activity I’ve seen. Just minor chasing and checking does.

Several groups of does today with no bucks. Saw a couple small bucks cruising solo and a few fresh rubs.

It’s hitting hard right now in north Idaho!
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Good- some are alive!  I saw a 3x3 buck with four does on the Washington side of the line- the future of the herd, I think- must be a happy 3x3 if he hasn't been run off!

Retrieved my trail cams yesterday and it appears the rut really turned on in our neck of the woods just a few days ago.  Prior to the 25th we saw very little activity.  The 26 and 27 had the bucks really showing up and chasing.  It's been a weird year with warmer than usual weather for the time.

Definite drop in activity last couple of days in 127 at my house . 124 where I have a cam has also slowed.

In the part of 121 I'm in the 25/26th were crazy with rut activity. I had a magic doe at 2 of my spots and she was towing a bunch of bucks around. Of course I didn't hunt either of those days. Yesterday was SLOW at all my locations.

Heavy in 105 leading up to and thru Thanksgiving.  Not sure what the rain and warmer weather will do.
