High Water Levels Westside
« on: November 13, 2021, 01:34:58 PM »
High water levels torpedo’d today’s hunt. Couldn’t get to the boat launch, couldn’t walk into anywhere. Doesn’t look like it’s gonna get any better tomorrow. At least the wind will be blowing though

The area I hunt sees a significant decrease in duck numbers with high water. Many birds move onto private fields until water recedes.

Same here, I went and checked my blind...... could only see the roof from the boat and that was before the lewis river rose another 2 feet. Hopefully things drain down a little by next weekend.

My concrete blind is already underwater. The roof is almost underwater and the river is forecasted to come up another 10+ feet. Yikes! Barn is gonna take a soaking and house will be on an island soon. There are people in a worse predicament than me. I’ll be ok. Skagit is forecasted for a big one. Go help someone if you can! 😲

Forecast just upgraded to almost a foot above the record on the Skagit! Man I hope they are wrong. I’ve been at it for hours on my place and now 2 more neighbors are gonna need help. One will get water in the house and the other maybe.

I’ve got time to post because I’m waiting on a grounding rod. 🙂

Stopped by the launch on the South fork of the Stilly on Boe Rd.  :yike: I knew it would be bad but the water was basically back to the outhouse. Last time I launched there on  a flood I almost died...it was a good opportunity to show my son when NOT to go on the river. It made my stomach hurt looking at it and remembering. It was many years ago but a memory that is as clear as day.

Yeah I thought about launching in the snoqualmie and hitting a high slack water spot but the flow rate was definitely out of my comfort zone.

Pretty spooky to see the Skagit at 32' now knowing it's going another 5.5' higher.

We got to the boat launch at 5:30AM. Tried to hit 5 other spots before settling for a crappy 6th option at 9 AM. Had one group of birds fly over and that was it for the day. Warm and calm...
