Late Hunt
« on: November 17, 2021, 07:58:46 AM »
Well, haven't seen the big bucks out chasing yet, but smaller bucks seem to be active. Kids finally got tired of waiting and filled out with smaller ones than usual. Had a couple of first timers over and forgot how frustrating taking them out can be. Only good buck I put him on he fiddled around with his gun so long it walked back into cover. Cold today and now everyone is heading home the bigger bucks will probably start showing up.

What area was your special permit for?
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

The rut activity is super slow.   The weather is just now getting good.  Hope my son can get it done today or tomorrow.   The cougars on out place are not helping.   :bash: :bash:

I have always seen some of the better bucks by now, if only on cameras, but they are for sure a no show this year.  No photos, no sightings. Just younger bucks, best being a decent 9pt that I have passed over and over.

I fear maybe the more mature bucks have been hit hardest by the blue tongue as is often the case. I will continue to watch for them even after the season to see if they ever show.  Ill make sure theres alfalfa around to draw in the post rut hungry bucks so I can do my post season inventory which at this point is the worst ever.
