Nothing teaches about the heartbreak of loss and the ability to love again like being a dog owner. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry you have to go through this, too cem34.

Back in August I put a deposit on a lab puppy for the spring, but I don’t feel like I want it, anymore.
Last December I had to put down my springer and was in the same state of mind as you not wanting a new pup
In March I put down a deposit and the breeder sent me pics as he grew and picked him up in May it was still tough but I’m glad I did it helped a lot.
I still miss my other dog and still can’t look at pics without getting choked up even 11 months later but my new dog has helped fill that hole
I'm your dam tour guide Arnie please don’t wonder off the dam tour.
Take as many dam pictures as you want ....
Are there any dam questions ..

Sounds like you and Maggie share a special bond. They sure are there for us when we need them. You were there for her, when she needed you. Letting go is the hardest thing. They let us know when it's time. The two of you will forever share those memories.

Agreed the last month has been tough after putting our chocolate down. I'm glad we got a pup last year as she is making it easier to cope with him being gone and is turning into one heck of a duck dog too! Keep that deposit on the pup and I think you'll come around to having a new buddy in a couple more months when the pain isn't so fresh.
The best friend a guy could have asked for. RIP chasing pheasants in heaven Denali girl.

Do you know the Chris Stapleton song? It gets me every time.
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checked by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."
Theodore Roosevelt 1899

So sorry for your loss. She sounded like a hell of a dog!

I’m not familiar with that Chris Stapleton song. I do like his music, a lot, though. Got a picture from the breeder the week before Christmas, so there’s about 5 weeks before I have to make a decision. Haven’t even been able to take her bed out of the living room or crate out of the kitchen yet

Yeah, that made me cry

If you did not cry at that, you would not be human, or at least a dog person....

We were going to wait a while after we had to say goodbye to Loki, it ended up being a very short while....
