Late tag success
« on: November 20, 2021, 09:28:10 AM »
We’ll my late tag came to an end earlier this week with an awesome buck to show. A huge thanks to Ironhead for running around with us for the first couple days and thanks to Nwalpineguide for the preseason info. Also thanks to everyone else who provided information. My brother stuck out the whole season with me which was awesome and we became good buddies with Lou the 70 year old camped next to us who also had the tag. Lou filled his tag a few days earlier than me and stayed on the mountain and helped me find a buck and even helped pack him out!  My brother and I spent 11 days on the hunt with a few day break in the middle. We encountered all of the weather elements, snow, socked in fog, rain, massive wind storms and a few nice days. The wind storms really messed with our plans as many of the roads were blocked with blowdown and there is only so much time to spend cutting blowdown before you go to plan B for the morning. We saw a ton of deer and a ton of bucks as well but we were not seeing anything of that next caliber buck. This was the first big buck we saw and I would have hung my tag on him on day 1. It was a great hunt and we made some new friends out of it as well.

Sounds awesome.    That’s really the kind of hunt I like to hear about.  Beautiful buck as well.   I can relate to the cutting.  At times I felt as if I was getting wood, not photographing.

Congratulations! That just might be the best buck I've seen posted this year. At least of the Washington bucks.
