Green River Bucks and Bulls

How did those lucky enough to get drawn for the watershed do this year?  I haven't heard any reports out of there yet.

I had a bull tag, we hunted everyday of the season and didn’t see an elk until day 4. We ended up see about 20 cows total in 7 days and one spike bull that I didn’t take. We went everywhere the inspectors told us and we were the first ones at the gate each morning to have pick of the feeding fields but didn’t see an elk in the 3 mornings we went to them. I know of 4 bulls that were taken out.

What malady is hammering them? Hoof rot, tribal pressure, COvid?  No wolves yet?

I’m not sure what the cause is, the WDFW North Rainier Herd report said that in 2017 the herd of GMU 485 and 466 was around 463 elk with 33 bulls per 100 cows. Maybe they got pushed across the river where there is less access?

Really odd, I’d be surprised if it was do to the mucks, but, they can now take more than us like was the deal for a while. Ceremonial hunts are allowed in there, I wasn’t impressed w the elk numbers last year when my dad and I were in there for his deer tag. No way would I put too many points on that tag. Did you guys see any bucks?

That's a bummer. Hope it's a little better next year when I draw.

Tribe went in first this year, right? Wonder how they did, and if they got them stirred up enough to make them a little hard to find?

I asked the inspectors how the tribe hunt went, they hunted the week before, and they said 4 bulls and 2 cows, we did see about a dozen bucks and lots of does .

The hunt was terrible in my opinion and is over hyped by many  :twocents:
I shot a bull the first day and went in for 5 days never saw another bull or any bucks other than 2 points. It was a waste of points for sure.
Losing is natures' way of saying you suck.

Know of 2 regular bulls and a dink buck. Had the buck tag 10 years ago, not much has changed. Got flamed for it last year.

Best westside buck and bull tag on the westside, keep trying!!! It’ll be worth it!👍
