We used to have quite a few lynx in the Kettle Range, the wedge, and in the Selkirks. I remember seeing their tracks fairly often when I was young, there was one trapper who caught quite a few of them, but we are really on the fringe of their range, I don't see many lynx tracks anymore in most of that country, I don't think there are many of them. There are plenty of lodgepole thickets and snowshoes for them to hunt, bringing in 10 a year over 5 years, they might get them going better again?

I would like to see some kind of reasoning why the Lynx numbers have dropped off and why things are different now. Whatever caused lynx numbers to go down if they really have, why will that not be the same fate of the released lynx?
Instead I feel like this may be driven by funds available for a program, the main goal of is to put some bios on the payroll. I hope it is more than a way to get Fed money.

Less snowshoe hare than when I was a kid by far, used to shoot them with bows and very successfully.

I know they have their cycles, but their 7 year highs are still very low.

Hard to say, there was a trapper on the reservation who trapped the Kettle crest on and off the reservation, he knew what he was doing, from what i remember he caught lynx every year, they may or may not take off but there is no trapping season for them now, so that could make a difference. If they actually bring in 50 and most survive, that's probably more than there were back then based on the number of tracks I remember seeing.
