New Electric Grinder Recomondations?

My 10 year old cabelas pro series 500 watt (.67HP) grinder just stripped it's steel bevel gears.  Can't seem to find the parts, so I am in the market for a new grinder.

Would like something more durable this time, and a bit more power would be nice too.  Maybe 1-1.5hp? I generally only do 1-3 animals a year.

Any good blackfriday/cyber monday deals out there?

I have the 1.5 hp carnivore from Cabelas and it will eat anything I throw in it.  Love it!!

Go 1 HP minimum and #22 throat.  That's what I got, but more power is better, maybe even a #32.  Mine will eat 8-10 lbs per minute.

Yup had at least 10 hogs thru mine, a bear, numerous deer, couple of beef cows

Somehow I got a round ball of bone in mine like a big marble, stopped it dead cold in its tracks, didn't strip a gear just hummed till I could get it off, cleaned out, and kept going

I have a 3/4 hp #8 and it's great but I have come to realize the big benefit of the larger ones is the larger tube, not necessarily the motor.  Big tube = less hassle.  I can't slow my motor down no matter what I feed but the #8 tube limits how fast and easy I can get stuff through there, especially on the second grind.

I see you can get a foot pedal with the LEM's, and that sounds really handy. 

Anyone have a #22 or #32 LEM grinder? If so what do you guys think?  Is the dual grind worth it or more hassle than it's worth?

I have a Weston 3/4 hp and it's been awesome.  Eats as fast as I can feed it and has the attachments for doing pepperoni and sausages.  I honestly couldn't think of a reason for a need to go bigger.

I got a foot pedal on my carnivore, and the tomato saucer attachment.

Not in love with the tomato saucer, sometimes it can spin the screen it doesn't lock in tight enough.  I started wacking the retention collar with a tiny ball peen hammer

It'll do a wheelbarrow load of tomatoes pretty quick

$525 for a #32 1.5 hp model sounds like a hell of a deal.  Just hope the quality and parts support is there.

You can use the foot pedal for anything, universal plug.


I use in on my meat bandsaw I got from a HW member, works great!  Obviously not a 220v saw, but that pedal would work on anything 120v

Just bought a 1hp #22 Carnivore on Thursday - did a deer and an elk yesterday morning - worked amazing compared to my old one , nothing slowed it down

The Cabelas carnivore reviews are really encouraging, but I am really leaning to getting the 1.5HP #32 Meat Your Maker.

Are the plates and blades inter changeable with Cabela's, LEM and Weston? Way better price than Cabela's. Like they say; Buy once cry once.
