Cougar 2021
« on: December 01, 2021, 08:51:27 AM »
I wish I could have shot every cougar I have seen but as we all know you barely see or get the opportunity !  I have seen one or two every year for the last several years !
One encounter he saw me and tried jumping over a thick briar patch and was stuck trying to get away ! All I had was my bow and pistol and by the time I got in range he got threw !

I live in the middle of the elk herd and always have elk close by !
This year , we haven’t seen them much So I decided to put up a few cameras and see what’s prowling around my house at night ! Within 2 days I would know why !

Story is to long so I have to grind it out 😂

So once I figured out where he was hanging and new what times he was in the area I made a blind and decided to sit on him ! Well 16 hours later , sitting in the evening and at 1st light he decided to show up !  I just bought a new Bergara rifle in a .243 and it needed broken in ! Never imagined it would be on a cougar hanging around my house 😮😂😂. Now the elk are happy and have returned and are back to eating well !

Since late bow season started I have found 4 different cat tracks and all 4 trailcams I have put out this year , all have cougar on them ! Bear and cougar are seriously getting a lot of blacktail and need some serious harvesting !

So you where just sitting,no calling,or anything.
I'm about ready to throw my fox pro against the wall.
I've been out a few times since general deer closed.
That fox pro is junk. I've called coyote a few times with hand calls ,never anything with that dang fox pro.

I guess maybe a handful of crows ,that's about it for my fox pro adventures.

I had a cougar causing problems on my sheep hunt this year so I now have a Foxpro E-call and I'm hoping to put a cat in the freezer; and on the wall.
