Like it says in the top, it’s an opinion column.  And his opinion doesn’t mean crap!
Look who he belongs to, Kettle range conservation group.  Should ask him where he was when he was protecting wolves and the caribou from the Selkirk’s disappeared forever? :dunno:
Yes, we should ask that.

Wait...You think Conservation Northwest is somewhat "centrist"?

Whew!  That was a good one!  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

For the record, Conservation Northwest - to include its founders, employees and financial supporters, is ABSOLUTELY NOT "CENTRIST" in any way shape or form. They have been and will continue to be a basket of wretched, wildly leftist hippies with roots in eco-terrorism that seek to infiltrate and influence WDFW and other state agencies as much as possible.  If you doubt me, simply look at what those people say on their social media posts. And more importantly, what they say when they think they're in a room full of other supportive like-minded leftists.

I do think they are and I can back that up pretty well.

Take two polar opposite positions in regards to hunting: consumptive conservation and strict preservation focused on charismatic megafauna. In this they exist somewhere in the middle.

They have taken stances in support of wolf culls
They acknowledge the role and need for hunting funds in conservation.
They support wildlife crossings financially
They supported the hound training season being set up

Those are all things I'm glad they supported and I'm sure, on some anti-hunting forum someone could just as easily find five anti-hunting behavior they have engaged in. That's what I mean by centrist as it relates to hunting they fall somewhere in the middle if we were to call HSUS and SCI the polar ends. They exist in the center, pissing everyone off equally at times

Do you consider Fred Koontz a centrist?

No. I'm sure he thinks he is but I haven't seen him do anything positive for hunting in the state. At times, CNW has helped out hunting in some capacity. Not as much as you or I might want and often taking stances or having a history that is disagreeable

This is getting off track though. My point was that the author of the article isn't even hiding his contempt for hunting. Some groups are at least willing to do that and even back our plays rarely. The author of this oped piece is an outright enemy of hunting.
