WDFW Game Management Advisory Council
« on: December 09, 2021, 08:28:55 AM »
As long as folks are fired up about the WDFW commissioners, you might take the time to poke folks at WDFW regarding not having a Game Management Advisory Council meeting since 2020.  Typically, when the commission is considering a vote on a hunting issue they ask what the GMAC's thoughts are on the issue.

A couple of thoughts on the GMAC. They are an advisory committee. Think of them like an informed sportsmen focus group. The department gets to bounce ideas off of and the commission can tap into. A huge number of the members are brand new.

Call me a pessimist  but the Commission didn't care what the GMAC thoughts were on spring bear.

I agree with your thoughts on the GMAC.  But I did remember hearing one of the commissioners ask where the GMAC weighed in on the bear hunt in one of the earlier meetings.  Not having an answer doesn't help WDFW's cause.

Interesting... do you remember the meeting date or the Comissioner? I thought I had listened to the all maybe that slipped by me.

I don't unfortunately.  There is a chance it was another meeting regarding wolves.  I feel like I have watched a lot of commission special workgroups and meetings lately.  I just remember WDFW being asked what the GMAC position was.  I will try to rack my brain and remember the meeting.

It is quite possible that because of Covid they have had some online meetings. Depending on how well run they may or may not have been very fruitful.
