Heading Back - Round 2
« on: May 05, 2009, 05:51:02 PM »
Well, after spending 5 days over in the Colville area for the opener and getting my butt handed to me by the birds...I think its about that time to head back over and see what we can do this time.

The last time out we could get on birds every morning, be talking back and forth with them, and then about 7 or 8 am the forest would go quiet, not a bird to be heard or found the rest of the day. Even had one morning when I was within a great tom at about 10 yards but just couldnt make a shot before he went behind and tree and was gone forever..Talking with Birdman and a few others at the fairgrounds it seemed like this was somewhat of a trend during those days..ok..now to the point of this post..

Yes, Im going to ask for Info..Please dont kill me..My question is to the guys who have been hunting these birds in the last few weeks..How are the birds acting? Little more fired up or about the same as I had described above? Lots of hens still getting the attention of our toms? Thank you for any info and lets get some big birds down!

Should be good this time around.  The toms are gobbling a lot more now that the hens are all getting up.  Trying to get that one or two more hens to notice them.  Good luck, mostly have fun.
Work sucks!!!! I should be shed hunting

I saw two sets of birds this morning.  One pair, and one tom with two hens.  All toms were sounding off before flydown, then it was real long in between hearing them.  So in my area, around Spokane, the hens are still running with the toms.
