Would be fun to kill a doe with one, or maybe a turkey. Never tried it, though.

Well nobody's showing off their work. So I guess they're ashamed
I think it would be neat to also make a knife if you got it down.

I've got some Glass Butte obsidian if anyone wants to give it a whirl.
I did, but do not have the patience for it. I almost taught myself to cuss like sailor a couple of summers ago.

Dave, I'd be willing to pay the shipping on that obsidian. I'll follow up in person (private message).

As a former drunkin sailor I take offense to you thinking that you may be able to cuss better then me. I challenge you to a duel!!

I want before and after pics of Antlers hands. Good stuff, but man it slices and dices. The cool thing is its so sharp you really don't feel it when its happeneing. Usually you note the blood pool. Then there is the perfect head but you think you need to get that one last chip........thwack and it busts in half.

Did you get yourself some Billets Ray? I like the copper ones. Moose antler is good I guess, but I couldn't see myself chopping one up. I had thought about finding Robs bones and using them........

I have not even started. I am going to collect some stuff and maybe get to it later in the year. It's getting sunny outside and this sort of rainy day activity will be a lot more interesting in the winter.

Its actually a good evening project in the summer. You need to do it outside. Flint dust is NASTY on the lungs.

We found a bunch of "flint" agate, petrified wood up in the Wenas, and my goal was to make some heads from it. Pretty brittle though.

Bone,
You can always tell when someone has really done it. That sentence right there spells out the whole experience for me. That and blood dripping from all the little nicks and cuts.
Caution: Do not flintknapp anywhere near the trail that leads to your mailbox (that you just might be walking barefoot down some morning on your way to get the paper and then wonder why you're leaving bloody footprints on the carpet later)

Thats good advice too. I did it in front of my garage and ran out there barefoot. I shoved one of those slivers deep into the heel of my foot and then it broke off. I dug and dug to get it out as everytime I'd step it hurt. Of course this was RIGHT before hunting season. I felt everystep.

Ray,
Here are some pics of the obsidian I was telling you about. That is a softball for perspective. The smaller pieces are black with some creamy white stripes. The bigger pieces are black swirled with mahagony. Let me know how much you want.
