You lose a little sharpness with it, but even with 800 it’s best to be on top of them. I’m trying really hard to get a varied thrush and a Flicker closeVaried thrushes are one of my favorite birds.......there are about 7-8 of them in my yard right now.......turning over leaves, looking for bugs.I think there we have two kinds of flickers that spend all day on the suet feeders.I've tried taking pictures of the birds in my yard, but so far the results are pretty pathetic...........

A couple days after taking that photo I learned how to use the manual focus on my new camera. It is not the quickest to use so I might not have had time to use it though.

So far only the juncos have found it, and one starling. He won’t be a problem . The flickers are working an ornamental pear. I have one varied thrush who is very spooky. It was hitting the last of my apples. I discovered it too late.
I finally saw my first Red Crossbill this weekend at Cape Arago State Park on the Oregon Coast.
