I think this is what you're looking for!December 16, 2021Sport sturgeon retention season changes for The Dalles PoolAction: Changes white sturgeon retention season structure from seven days per week, to three days per week.Effective date: Jan. 1 through Jan. 26, 2022Species affected: White sturgeon.Location: From the Dalles Dam to John Day Dam and all adjacent Washington tributaries.Rule: Open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays only. Daily limit 1 sturgeon. Min. fork length 43 inches, max. fork length 54 inches.Reason for action: The three-days-per-week opening will help prolong the season in The Dalles Pool and allow managers to monitor catch rates more closely.Additional information: The Dalles Pool remains open for catch-and-release fishing for sturgeon on days not open to retention, as do many other stretches of the Columbia. I love fishing for them but usually give the meat away, I spent too much time around the lower Columbia/Willamette/Portland to eat a fish that is 50 years old and eats stuff off the bottom around there. They migrate all around so you never know where the one you caught came from.I'm sure it's more of a mental thing for me than actual science, the guys that ate the ones I caught are no more strange than before they ate it.
