We’ll be down the first two days.  Going to make an evening run too Long Beach for clams too.  It was lights out last year.  Best day was 5 keepers to the boat in an hour kept three and went home.

I think this is what you're looking for!

December 16, 2021

Sport sturgeon retention season changes for The Dalles Pool

Action: Changes white sturgeon retention season structure from seven days per week, to three days per week.

Effective date: Jan. 1 through Jan. 26, 2022

Species affected: White sturgeon.

Location: From the Dalles Dam to John Day Dam and all adjacent Washington tributaries.

Rule: Open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays only. Daily limit 1 sturgeon. Min. fork length 43 inches, max. fork length 54 inches.

Reason for action: The three-days-per-week opening will help prolong the season in The Dalles Pool and allow managers to monitor catch rates more closely.

Additional information: The Dalles Pool remains open for catch-and-release fishing for sturgeon on days not open to retention, as do many other stretches of the Columbia. In addition, the Bonneville Pool (between Bonneville Dam and The Dalles Dam) and John Day Pool (between John Day Dam and McNary Dam) remain open to sturgeon retention seven-days-per-week starting January 1, 2022 following permanent rules.

Information contact: Region 5 office; 360-696-6211

I fish the boneville pool as it’s just a stone throws away. I only go when the weathers really nice. Haven’t caught a keeper in about 6 years lol used to catch at least one every trip out. I really need to move to a different area I guess.

Love it or hate it kind of fish.  I love fishing for them but usually give the meat away, I spent too much time around the lower Columbia/Willamette/Portland to eat a fish that is 50 years old and eats stuff off the bottom around there.  They migrate all around so you never know where the one you caught came from.

I'm sure it's more of a mental thing for me than actual science, the guys that ate the ones I caught are no more strange than before they ate it.

Fought motor problems with the freeze and not wanting to start, but finally got to fishing about 11:45 today.  Got our second keeper at 3:30 and came in.

Nice fish! I’ll bet the wind was warm on the river today.

More boat problems, but luckily put two more keepers in the boat in 30 minutes this morning.  Two fish to the boat, both slot fish.  Good start to the fishing season!  Good luck to everybody else.  Launches aren’t great right now, and they will probably be unusable after this snow storm down there the next couple days.
