Question for cat trappers
« on: December 19, 2021, 07:01:52 AM »
Ok I understand refreshing your lures at trap sites however curious about if you cat trappers also refresh your baits  after a period where the temps have stayed below freezing night and day and your bait freezes like in a freezer?
Lows for past couple weeks single digits to low teens and highs only in the low to mid 20's bait is as hard as a brick and sure not smelly.

Weeks set and no cats caught? I'd probably refresh it with fresh placement.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Yea, I would probably move the trap to a new location, same bait, fresh lure.

Thank you everyone for the replies sounds like my best bet is to just move the traps, although trudging thru knee deep snow is one thing I am not looking forward to, that is if I can even get back to where I would move them to by pushing snow with the truck bumper. We get much more snow and won't be able to do daily checks without hiking 5 miles in and out.

Kinda hard to keep bait from freezing with these temps, much less force oneself to get out in them to check traps. I know at least for this 73 year old it is
