First Turkey

So school just ended for me on thursday and my father just made it up to Spokane. We will be going out tomorrow for the first time this season and we would both like to get our first turkeys. I know it's already three weeks into the season and was wondering how things are going out there? Are the birds talking very much? Does anybody have any recommendations for places to try out or techniques that I should focus on? Thanks a lot guys.

The birds are very talkative where I'm hunting.  Matter of fact I missed one yesterday.  Most of the public land up north around Colville and Chewelah holds birds.  Be patient.  If you get one to answer but won't come any closer, just hang out and hopefully his curiosity will get the better of him.  See "One Hour Rule" post.  Or one of you can slip back away from the bird and call.  Make him think the "hen" is walking away.  Good luck!
