Was Carpenter at the end of term, or resign?  Didn't realize that was in the works.

His term was up in 2020 I believe
Yes it was.

Yup,
And he really wasn't helping hunters anyway.
So I don't really see it at a loss.
Other than the inexplicable vote on spring bear, Carpenter was one of the more reasonable pro fishing and hunting commissioners.
I agree with that.
Not sure what happened with spring bear.

It appears John Lemkhul is a hunter. The other two don't sound good to me. I hope I am wrong. If that plays out we have a majority in the Commission, some of which are not what I would call solid. Portends a fight on all substantive issues.
It is not encouraging that CBD applauds the appointments.

By whos definition is this guy a hunter ?? Occasional, casual, once upon a time ?  None of these appointments were made to bolster our point of view.

I worked with John, years ago.

We talked about going out and hunting together.  But I only hunt birds, and I believe he also hunted big game.  We never did get together for hunting birds.

So I don't know how important hunting was to him.  But he did hunt.

He was a great professional to work with and a good human being.  I did enjoy working with him.  We did get into professional disagreements and he was fair as we tried to hash them out.  I was enjoyable working with him even in disagreement between us.

He is politically liberal.  What a surprise for a PhD!!!  I suspect that is why Inslee picked him.
