Meater therm

Wondering if anybody has them and what your thoughts are. Would be nice to get rid of the wires.

I have had one for a few years now, pretty handy and works good.  Only issue is I am not a techie, and have not spent the time to figure out how to set it up so I can get long range check ins on long cooks. Without doing that the range is VERY limited.

:'( nope got another vest, she got confused between Meater and MeatStick. I think I'm going to order the MeatStick? The battery life is the biggest drawback I see, 8 hours max. I do ribs in the smoker for 8 hours at 180, thicker ones 10 hours.  :dunno:

I’m looking at the $69 ones single probe. Don’t need my meat to look like a COVID germ with a bunch of stuff poking out.

I've tried to talk myself into the top shelf wireless or even instant reads.  Then, I realize that the ones I have work perfect and most of the people touting their glory are paid to do so.

I'm sure they are great, but I can always find someplace better to put the money.

I got a Meater as a gift awhile back.  It does a good job but I find that the setup is more involved than I'm willing to go through most of the time.

Not wading through other replies...

I have a Meater that is about three years old. WHEN it works, it is great. The wireless bluetooth range is abysmal! I pretty much have to have my phone sitting within ten feet of it.

I've been meaning to look for something better....

Wth?  Have you programmed it to use wireless instead of bluetooth?  Maybe thats the trick?

I've also never had a problem with mine, I leave it in the traeger and still transmits to the other side of the house.

Pretty sure it is just bluetooth.  It has about the same range as my bluetooth headphones.

Just popped a whole chicken in the oven with the Meater in it.  I'm monitoring the temp from about 50 feet away - blue-tooth connection.  Looks like about an hour, 15 min until crispy brown and tasty.

 :)

Got a Meater+ today, charging now. How do you tell if it’s charging or charged. The poor instructions don’t say, I’ll download the app when charged per the instructions. Anymore clues on the usage or suggestions.
Thanks

Light will be green if it's charged. Always charges when it's put back in its slot in the wood case. I've never have an issue with mine not being charged.
