Wildlife Fund

By state and federal law, hunting and fishing license fees cannot be ‘diverted,’” Pamplin replied. “That is, it cannot be swept into the General Fund or used for purposes outside of fish and wildlife management.”

I thought all of Washington hunting and fishing revenue goes into general state fund.
But I don't really know.
Then the state spends more than we put in.
Cause WDFW is always in the red with budget short falls.
I know in 2020 when inslee tried closing hunting and fishing ,they was worried about that money then.
Isn't there about 10,000 spring bear apps that they will lose money on as well. Spring bear has always been a huge money maker, for the small return in permits, and harvest that happens. They would make a lot more OTC instead of 6 dollar, you sell a spring bear tag for 30,and make it only valid in the spring.
Sorry I just ramble things off in my head.
Carry on discussion.

To have an OTC spring bear season ,two things have to happen.
Illegal to shoot sows with cubs year round, reduce the two fall tag to one fall tag. Sell spring and fall tags seperate and double down on money coming in ,and keeping sustainable bear population. You know this state better than I do.
That would give hunter more opportunity, with more money for the state ,We can't do that. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Just wanted to say sorry for some of my crapy comments in other topics. I'm just so sick of our current Commission, governor, and Washington State as a whole.
I still wish you luck as a possible Commissioner, and have opened my eyes that I would rather have you instead of the current morons that are there now.

All sportsman hunting and fishing license fees go to the Wildlife fund. If it did not the State would not eligible for federal funds like Pittman Robertson funds.

They do have some good programs that are paid for with Pittman funds.
With that said .....
It looks like there operating cost is almost three times higher than revenue from license sales.
It might be time to start rethinking about how they can up hunter opportunities, while maintaining sustainable population.
Enforcement alone trumps license sales. And I wish there was more of that .
Ya I don't know ,there definitely in a money pit.
I look at it this way ,hunting and fishing off sets some of the operating cost. Just think how much more money the state will spend when anti hunters get there way .
Just like the recent spring bear deal ,who is gonna make up that money down fall.
It all down hill from here on out.
