Beaver Meat
« on: December 29, 2021, 05:30:22 PM »
Does anyone have any Beaver meat they are looking to part with? I've been wanting to try some..

Also, I would love to get into trapping, any advice on how to get started and where to get traps?

Cheers,

Mathew

We always just used it for bobcat and marten bait (pretty greasy and resisted freezing a bit).  Never thought about eating one of those super size water rats; have never been hungry enough for that.  But, I’ve heard of people eating beaver, even muskrat….. weasel fritters anyone?  :chuckle:

The beaver jokes are endless on the trapping forums, but in all honesty if you aren't eating beaver meat you are missing out. Lean beef is the closest thing to compare to, the back straps on the grill are 👍 my new favorite is a young beaver smoked whole on apple wood then low and slow in the over. Smoky pulled beaver sandwiches

Wife and kids love it too, they prefer beaver burgers or beaver tacos. Grind the hind quarts with pork fat and season to your liking

x2 Beaver is good tablefare.

What about beaver tail?
Beaver tail is primarily fat.

I’ll take your word for it. For once in my life I don’t have any fear of missing out 😂 I’m good with it being bobcat bait.

Have you never had bobcat? Taste like cougar... Am I the weird guy that got into trapping for the meat?
