Accubond rotting out??
« on: January 07, 2022, 04:17:25 PM »
So I ordered a new Weatherby 30-378 last month. While waiting a started searching for ammo and a second mortgage. Found some Weatherby Premium 180 grain accubond from Palmetto State Armory. Being a nerd I opened each box to marvel at the size of the cases. All boxes are from the same lot. In one box 6 of the rounds had the polymer tip dropped out of it or it crumbled to the touch. Any thoughts or similar experience. I plan on contacting both nosler and weatherby as psa isn’t gonna take em back. Problem is I have 10 boxes of very expensive ammo that I am not sure will perform as advertised. Even losing the 6 rounds is painful.

Thanks in advance.

Contact nosler....they will make it right.  I had a box of 50 projectiles that a couple of the tips came out and broke.  Nosler replaced the box no questions ask.  I have loaded thousands of accubonds and have only had the one problem.  Not sure why it happened but I guess when you mass produce items....sometimes crap happens.  They are a great company to work with.

:yeah: I have loaded more then I could count. I have only ever had a couple problems and they have always made it right when something was off.

I have never encountered one 'crumbling'. Interesting. Please report what they say.
Cuterebra are NOT cute!

from what i know from reading other forums, this was a problem with the polymer material when the accubonds first came to market, and has been corrected since.  this could possibly be old ammo, or at least loaded with old stock bullets.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

I kinda agree .
I had or still have an old box of Winchester accubond ,that a few tips fell out.
I'd have to look through my ammo ,to even see if I still have them.
But that isn't right for brand new ammo.
