Try and keep dry..and when the rainshowers quit...one of my favorite times to be in the woods yelping.  Hard rains will keep turkeys inactive sometimes they will roost midday..watching us idiots walk around the woods all soaking wet!  :chuckle:
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!

Holy cow are you sure that thing was alive when you shot it! :chuckle:

Actually that was CoryTDF's bird from a couple of years ago.  After he shot it, it rolled down the hillside.  The thing looked so horrible he had to take a pic... :chuckle:

Well, no luck yesterday.  Didn't hear a dang thing.  Saw 3 while driving and nearly ran a hen over.

LMAO.... now that's funny  :chuckle:

They're killable in the rain but they are tougher to call in my experience.  I usually head for cover and wait for the afternoon break in the rain when the sun comes out and they get super active.  Life's too short to sit in the rain  :P

Rubbing against the wet brush starts penatrating their feathers ... they don't like that so they will head for openings.  As mentioned it also effects their hearing (a main defense).  And if windy, they can't rely on their other main defense (their eyesight) with the brush moving every which way.

Where most guys will head for the camp or motel, I put up an umbrella blind in a tree (over my head) along a field edge or a logging spur road and call softly and occassionally ... very effective too!

I was going to ask about this as well. been pissing down here for the past 4 days. Last time I went out and it was raining was back in 06 and it was dead quite in the woods, didn't see or hear a thing.

Come on guys (and women). We sit outside in the wind & rain during duck and goose season. We sit out in the snow and wet during hunting deer. We can't handle a little rain during Turkey season? We live in the Northwest!  :)
