Only one way to stop all this, and it isn't through the legal system

All this has me wandering if there is better security for your rig out there?
If your window gets broke does your car alarm go off?

Often thought about putting a separate alarm in my rig to cover the bed and inside. Something that blairs real loud.

I'm not sure if factory alarms have a glass break sensor, likely not.  Aftermarket you can do whatever you want.  Whether anyone can get there in time to do anything is another question.  The thieves don't have a whole lot of fear of getting caught, so smash and grab would likely only save you a few things they didn't have time for.  They have no way of telling if you have a sensor until they do the deed so it wouldn't stop them.

Somebody needs to invent a drone with longer battery life that you can just deploy and it hovers just out of reach of thrown objects and livestreams the video to the cloud.  Either that or the manufacturers need to add SSDs or slots to accept them that use existing cameras to record when the alarm is armed.

If there were a LEO task force that went around busting them that would put a significant dent into it.  That requires money and manpower, both of which are in short supply.

Almost makes sense to leave your doors unlocked and leave nothing in your truck you can’t live without

Key word
Almost......
Or buy a POS to use
This isn’t a “new” problem
Last 10 or so years it’s a lot worse
I’ve been ripped off parked at a gate
Big time hassle
Smashed drivers side glass
Stole my truck records/paperwork and government work badges and about 500 bucks worth of misc gear
Had to file identify theft and got my window fixed on insurance and then because it’s a security violation on my badges getting stolen, had to go to base security and explain what happened and of course insurance on my stuff didn’t cover squat
I don’t leave anything in my truck anymore
Does suck

Then you you’ll just get your vehicle jacked.🤬

Not sure if they are still available but there used to be alarms that detected any type of movement of the vehicle once the alarm was set, I believe they were a mercury switch and if someone even leaned on a fender it would activate with either a siren or a loud horn.
Might be something to consider for those in areas where vehicles susceptible to vandalism.
