Barnes .270 Win Bullets.... Loose?
« on: January 10, 2022, 07:44:29 PM »
So my buddy just got some .270 cartridges and to my knowledge they're not reloads.

The headstamp on them says "BARNES .270 WIN"

The interesting thing about these rounds, are the bullets SPIN in the brass... there is no in/out play, but you can twist them with relative ease. What's the deal with that? I've never in my life seen this, but I've never been a reloader and have mainly shot Federal/Nosler in my guns.

Thoughts?

I had the same thing happen with some I loaded in .243, it was like they were too narrow but they measured fine.  It seemed to be the grooves being in the perfectly wrong place relative to the neck?  Who knows, but I had to switch bullets.

I'm not sure where he got them, but I'm going to ask.
