Is there anyway you could make the pin spring loaded.
Then whatever remotely release the pin from the other side.
That way you don't need a release to move the pin under wieght,you need a release to let the pin go that is already under a huge amount of spring tension.
But I really don't know.

Just thinking about it with a brain fart in my head and not seeing it ,that's all I can come up with.
You would have to have it spring loaded enough that the pin will move under whatever weight your putting on it.
Basically at that point your just release it ,it might take a ratchet strap or come along or something like that to reset.
