Ultimate Elk tag???
« on: May 06, 2009, 08:11:35 PM »
Being pretty new to elk hunting I was wondering what some of you guys think would be the ultimate elk tag here in washington. Either side of the mountains any weapon what would be your first choices for elk numbers and trophy potential no matter how bad the draw odds are.

Actually, no. I take that back. The westside archery tag would be the ultimate tag. I just choose to hunt muzzleloader because I have a bad shoulder and shooting a bow doesn't help it any.

The eastside elk auction tag, aka. "the governors tag" Doesn't get anymore ultimate than that!!!

i think more of the raffle tag than the auction tag..so i will say eastside elk raffle tag. $5 to win it....not $70k.

i think your worst draw odds are probably in the blues...this year i will guess it will be any of the new rifle rut hunts down there.

Unit 201, Colorado, described to me by a guide one time as the Holy Grail of elk hunting in the world.  This is my 18th year putting in and still won't draw.  Here in WA?  The eastside raffle tag or the new Peaches Ridge B then Peaches Ridge A, IMO.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

Bowtech721,

Marry an indian.....then you can hunt anywhere and not worry about a WDFW elk permit.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.
