Woke gone Wild at WDFW
« on: January 26, 2022, 08:57:42 AM »
Did anyone on the Wildlife advisory committee Zoom catch how the WDFW addressed homeless people living on WDFW land?  This was for a preview of the 10 year recreation plan (open comments now, follow WDFW links)

The caller asked about camping and stated that homeless camps should not be considered recreation.

The WDFW presenter chided that, "we don't refer generally to homeless camping, we talk about  Residential Camping"

WOKE alert! The Left Turn the WDFW has taken recently is downright scary.

Can you find the name and contact info of the presenter ?  I am certain that person and their office of origin need to hear our feelings on that matter.

Soooo.. I don't have to abide by the time limits if I'm "residential camping"?

If so I'm setting up a permanent hunting camp. :chuckle:

I googled "residential camping" to see if this was the new 'approved' and sanitized way to say homeless.  It doesn't appear so.  There was one article about "nonrecreational camping" that was more in line with what we were talking about.  So it appears that the WDFW just invented this woke-ism on its own.

What do you expect......their office is next door to the lunatic in charge! At this point it is all about politics and hoping your budget isn't cut - science and reason have nothing to do with WDFW policy!!!!

I just think they need to know/hear that a very strong differing point of view on the matter does exist. They need to hear just how disgusted we are with them.

I bet it was recorded
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

I'll have listen to the whole video later when my patience has been revived. I have never heard someone speak so long without really saying anything of interest; oh I forgot Joe Biden.

It sounds like he said it's referred to as residential camping in the rules and is already not allowed.  Doesn't sound like a "woke" issue.

You can come up with all kinds of plans with all kinds of rules, but unless rules are enforced they do no mean much.  The common theme on most of our state and federal lands is a general lack of enforcement presence to enforce the current rules.

Agreed. The "woke" person is the commenter. Like she wants homeless camping to be separated from residential camping so homeless people can set up shop on public land...

Sounds like the response is reasonable. You don't have to necessarily be homeless to be a "residential camper" on public land. Makes more sense to be broad there. Camping longer than X amount of days isn't allowed regardless of your housing situation.

Everyone knows that you can't live on WDFW land and there is a limit.  The problem is now when the WDFW closes public land due to "residential camping", nobody will understand that they are talking about homeless camps.  That wasn't a problem in 2020.
