Stove pipe help
« on: February 01, 2022, 01:27:14 PM »
Does anyone know where I can buy the silver piece in the photo below?
I need to run a 3" pipe through a 5" jack and want it to seal up to keep water and cold air out.
Just a piece that slides onto the 3" and holds in place where it goes through the jack, no need for a double wall pipe the whole way.

You can try this, as it is close. They also make a rain cover.

The piece you are showing is made by Winnerwell, but for a smaller diameter stove pipe.

Thanks that helps!

Wish that winnerwell was dimensioned to my needs.   That would be perfect

Not quite sure I understand your needs. Are you looking for the larger piece of pipe to hold a smaller piece of pipe as it goes through the jack? If so, does it need to be stainless and do you need the tapered rain collar on top? My career has been is hvac sheet metal. There are easy ways to solve your problem, depending on your needs.

I have a canvas tent with a 5” stove jack installed for a wood stove that I do not own anymore.
My backpacking stove is large enough to heat this canvas tent if I run it wide open.  The backpacking titanium stove has a 3” stove pipe that will run through the 5” stove jack.  That one inch ring around the 3” pipe in the 5” jack will let in plenty of water during a down pour and plenty of cold air whenever the fire is not burning.
I want to find a small piece of 5” pipe with a taper to 3” at the top to slide over the 3” titanium pipe and stop in the 5” jack, keeping out rain water and cold air drafts.
Hopefully that makes sense?

I would think you could make a flat plate with 3 inch hole and solve your issue a lot cheaper. :twocents:

I agree.  That’s my plan b if I can’t find or make what I’m looking for.

92xj,
Would this work for you ?

If I didn’t already have a stove jack installed I would buy that and it would work,  but not for my specific application I’m trying to tinker with

Want to tinker. Here you go. Remember to allow for overlap of the tapered seam, 1/2" minimum, screw or pop rivet in place. On the small end, 3" go a hair smaller, on the big end go a big hair bigger, trim to fit. The longer the taper, the easier it is to work with. You can "roll the taper" over a piece of pipe in a vise. Or just spend the money. Fun times.
