Suggestions for Tripods for Videos
« on: February 05, 2022, 11:40:30 AM »
Hello, I'm thinking very strongly of trying to video some of my turkey hunts this season. I find that turkey hunting is one of those types of hunting that lends itself to cameras since you are usually hunkered down in a hide and being very still. I'll be using cameras for this, not a phone, GoPro or dedicated video camera. My cameras are a little smaller and lighter than full blown DSLR's, but bigger that a pocket camera (Canon SX50). I need to determine what size SD card I'll need for a 5-10 minute, and what type of tripod I'll need. Video editing program, also. I used to have a larger DSLR-size Gorillapod several years ago but I either lost it or misplaced it. It seems like that would be ideal for a small lightweight setup for a turkey pack, but there's not always some branch or bush that you can wrap the legs around, and as a standalone it doesn't give much height unless your sitting on the side of a hill and can set it up right behind you. I really don't want to carry a true tripod and have to setup every time I move (and I'm a run-n-gunner). Any suggestions for a camera support option that would suit my needs? Or maybe I should bite the bullet and try a GoPro with the headband?

Thanks,
Cliff

Check out this one to see if it meets your need.  Small and very light.  I own one and like it.

That one looks really promising, lightweight, simple to use, etc. One thing though, I would be putting camo take/paint over the legs. I wonder if that would damage carbon fiber, or if the addition of tape/paint inhibit the legs from telescoping up inside the larger legs?

Thank you.
Cliff
