Stop arguing amongst ourselves and voice your discontent with the commission, via phone calls, email and petitions/ howl.org. and the dept of natural resources.

Signed. Do I believe she’ll resign over this? No, but it might help the powers that be or send a strong message that we are following this commission from here on out.

You either sign it and hope it makes a difference or don't and just complain. Either way I applaud those who do for making a step in the right direction and getting INVOLVED.

Getting close to 1000 signatures in a day.  That's got to send a message
Really?

WA is averaging around 170,000 hunting licenses sold the past few years. So not even 1% of hunters signed this petition. And on the fishing side WA sells around 650,000-700,000 licenses per year.

I understand and appreciate everyone's enthusiasm in signing the petition, but it's not going to actually do anything.

So in your expertise what would then??? We have to do something. Or should we all just poach that way we don’t care what rules they make up or change?? Or sit on the side lines till we can’t hunt at all? Don’t like either one so I’m going to bitch and Moan every time they do us wrong weather it falls on deaf ears or not. Kind of like voting for the president when our votes don’t matter Because the electoral college pics. But we all still vote so we have the right to bitch about whoever gets elected because we didn’t vote for them. But I suppose you didn’t vote for the presidency either because like you said it doesn’t make a difference, right?

We all know these Chang.org petitions don't do anything "stand alone".  In fact, I'm not sure the person in question will ever even see it, or give a hoot.

If it gets enough signatures, it could become a tool in a box of evidence that "change" is needed.  I would suggest adding the link in an email to my state representative.

However...

If it doesn't get many signatures, it could also prove that not many people want the change.  Then used as proof to the contrary of the petition.
What that signature level is, I am not sure.  But I would be hesitant to pass along any petitions that don't show an overwhelming result.

I've signed the petition, and added the link in an email to my state rep.

I have no illusions that Lorna will resign; this petition will likely make her dig her heels in. I also don't have any illusions about change.org - they are for profit, and their petitions are double edged swords, but have potential to help our cause here.

But I also didn't think Koontz would resign, and he did. He was susceptible to the pressure that was applied.

I also thought 2022 spring bear was a goner, but we got a change.org petition with 20,000+ signatures and 6 formal petitions, one of which was voted in and now rule/making/public comment might get us a 2022 season.

If we don't apply pressure and do nothing, I can guarantee Lorna will succeed with her agenda, which I think looks something like this:

Step 1 - Direct WWO for 10 years, try like hell to bring back grizzlies, ramp up wolf, black bear, and cougar populations. Progress wasn't fast enough, so pivoted to:
Step 2 - Run for Jefferson County Commissioner (was defeated)
Step 3 - Infiltrate the WDFW as a commissioner
Step 4 - Eliminate bear hunting. In May she introduced an addendum to add the year to the fall bear WAC, which I believe would have made a yearly commission rule-making/public comment period/commission vote necessary. Her addendum thankfully was shot down. She then succeeded in cancelling the spring bear season, and we've all seen how that is going...
Step 5 - Eliminate cougar hunting
Step 6 - When ungulate populations plummet from overpredation, cancel ungulate hunting.
Step 7 - Move up in government, cancel guns, etc?

There is no magic bullet to stop Lorna or the anti-hunter movement. This petition may just be one more arrow in the quiver, along with public comments, emails to the commission and our senators, petitions like the one from Marie Neumiller et al that might get spring bear back in the book for 2022, etc. If enough arrows are in the quiver, the media writes articles, podcasts, folks get pissed and open wallets to donate to hunting organizations and PAC's, politicians fear the loss of votes and (maybe lawsuits?) etc.. This petition might send a message to the other commission members about where the public stands.

Not everyone can or will send emails or testify in a public meeting. But it's relatively risk free and easy to click a vote button.

I'm still a hunting noob - just started 9 years ago, and I didn't start to get involved/educated about advocacy until spring bear was cancelled for this year (and there's a lot to learn about how things (don't) work in this state. I want my daughters to have opportunity to hunt and spend time in the outdoors with their old man.

Please sign and share - the more folks learn about this, the more likely they are to take effective action.

If/when she sees the petition, she will simply gain the spotlight or a microphone and deploy one of her "victim" cards.  Count on it.

WDFW is very aware that this petition is in process. In fact they are watching it. It has already garnered some attention, and she is well aware of it.

If you see this and think, ahhh too much hassle…it’s so easy and quick to put your signature on this! Just take the 39 seconds and do it!

Only a couple thousand signatures.  Really need more to make an impact.
