Great bull, especially with a bow!  I didn't realize the rosie and cascade were scored differently???
all elk are scored the same. Different book minimums but the scoring process is the same.

True roosevelts, bulls west of I-5, don't get any deductions above g-4's because they typically crown and thats still considered a typical for roosevelts. Bulls east of I-5 are considered Rocky's so scored the same as eastside bulls so any nontypical points are deducts...

Thanks for clarifying Scott, I thought all elk were scored the same way but sounds like a difference with Rosie’s.

But the only group that recognizes cascade roosevelts are the Washington Oregon record book guys. Boone and Crockett and Pope and Young do not just like they dont recognize cascade blacktails (benchleg) vs true coastal blacktails... The record books that really matter look at cascade roosevelts as Rockies only and score them as Rockies with normal deducts ..

west of i5 he would score more as a non typical or something like that.  My son didn't care

I live in Washington state.  I also know that there is intermixed genetic makeup of many herds.  Roosevelt subspecies did not cease to exist at the construction of i5.  West of the crest is a really unique mix of both subspecies with different dominant characteristics.  I am not a fan of overemphasized focus on score but appreciate that there is recognition of the west of the crest and east of the interstate even if they aren't in a category that matters(to you).

I wholeheartedly agree its a great bull and mentioning the true scoring methods and rules wasn't meant to take away from a great bull at all. I was just trying to clarify what I have had to figure out because for some guys "The Book" matters a bunch and to others not so much. Boone and Crockett record book doesn't recognize cascade roosevelts in a category of their own so they are mixed in with the Rocky Mountain elk and scored that way with deducts for any nontypical points .. That being said some of those bulls are very impressive with the mass and coloration they have because of the roosevelt genes they carry....
