We really enjoy taking kids hunting. I was recently asked about how young of a youth hunter could come hunting, here was my reply:

As long as they can hold up the gun and hit a target and have hunter education or a deferral, go ahead and enter them in the contest!

Can they still put in for it if they are already 16 but we were able to purchase their youth tags before their birthday?

By state regs if you buy the license and tag before they turn 16 you are good for the youth hunt even if they are 16 during the youth hunt but this is also Bearpaws give away so I will leave that to him.

I think Russ is right, but I would suggest asking a regional office to verify, try to get a reply in writing.

Russ is correct.  That's what I tell my whole Hunters Ed class.  If you turn 16 this year, go buy your license before your Birthday!

We've recently had several members add donations which has expanded the package each winner will receive.

See the first post which has been modified: https://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,268341.msg3643216.html#msg3643216
