Tanned hide storage
« on: February 19, 2022, 07:39:44 AM »
I've been slowly accumulating hides over the last few years. I love the idea of them but don't really have a place to display them. Are there generally accepted considerations for longterm storage of tanned hides? I have a bear, deer, and large bull elk hide for reference.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

Can't say if it's right or wrong but I've got a couple 20 year old blacktail hides from my first few hunting seasons that are all rolled up in a tote in the shop. I check em every so often and they always seem to be fine.

The grouse I had in there fell apart though but that was a pretty rudimentary tan by a 9 year old.
