Any one shooting a Backcountry in 6.5 RPM?

I have heard great things about it. A buddy in Wyoming has the Standard Backcountry in the RPM . Weighs 5.4# and he is blown away

I'm shooting a standard Mark V in 6.5 RPM. It's a solid caliber, ammo can be expensive, but since it's still pretty uncommon there isn't a crazy demand in my area. Keep an eye out at sportsman's wh. I've found the wby-branded silver box shoots as well if not better than the gold box

Are you only shooting factory and if so which bullet are you liking

I'm only running factory ammo right now. This is the one that sportsman's carries in Spokane, along with a gold "premium" box. Prices jumped up about 10 bucks for each one, I thinks it's like $80 and $90 now. Shot about a box of each and couldn't see a good enough reason to spend the extra $10 for the premium stuff

Anything .264 is pretty unexciting to me but where the RPM gets my juices flowing a bit is the upsizing options. For a guy sitting on a standard bolt face action but wants some magnum gas tank offerings this case is a great option. Size it up to a .284 and roll.

Probably make for a pretty badazz standard bolt face 270 build slinging the 170 Berger's too. 

My only concern would be how long the brass would last.  In the past Norma has made a lot of Weatherby's brass and though it's good quality Norma isn't really known for being tough like Lapua, ADG, or Alpha so when it's pushed it tends to give up primer pockets a little sooner.

I always hear those rumors too about norma but I'm on firing number 12 on my 300 wsm and still going strong. Until peterson 28 nosler I was necking up norma 26 nosler brass as well with no issues.  Size properly, anneal, and I'd bet a lot of money I'd get 10 on the rpm

I've only had issues with Norma when standing on the gas in some small cartridges I've yet to loose a single primer pocket in my 7mm Blaser mag and I'm sending 180 Berger's 3100 from a 26in tube.  Not a redline load but it's definitely up there.  Sometimes tough brass like Lapua, for some, can be tough to a fault because they'll keep standing on it till they lose primer pockets and when you start losing primer pockets in Lapua brass you're wayyyyyyyyyyy over pressure.

Really liking this rifle so far. Couldnt get RL 26 to group the way I wanted so I tried RL22. 61.1 gr at 3050 fps with 3/4" groups with very little recoil for a 6# 10 oz total weight. Switching over to RL23 today and hope to replicate the RL22 groups and will be happy with anything over 3000 fps
