2022 Salmon Forecast is Out

Wild returns are up for kings and silvers. Let's see what excuse WDFW comes up with to keep us from fishing this time...

Looking good, Yuasa had a good write up on it as usual.

Unfortunately the management strategy doesn't give many points for "improving" but it should be a good year.  With any luck, increased size will accompany increased numbers.

On the flip side of the coin, don't look at the lake WA sockeye numbers....  Only question left is what to do with the seals when they eat the last fish.

The Stilly and the skok will kill the 6-12 seasons... negative return numbers never equate to high quota's.
The coastal season should be good but not everyone can run the big water....sad.

So the Columbia runs are projected way lower overall this year?

And the Skok hasn't had any recreational fishing for years. Guess the recreational aspect isn't the main problem in lower returns.

Those will impact 6, 9 and 12 for sure.  But shouldn't have an effect on 10 or 11.  Suspect 7 will still be limited by the orca mess again.

So...another year of not being able to fish the Elwha.  Somehow I'm not too shocked.

Skok has been shut down? What reason? That pristine system was my favorite. Solitude and aggressive bait bites. What a joke that was. Quite the steelhead river in the '70s. May it dry up and become a fireworks dump.

Tribe claims the boundary for the river is the opposite bank (so the whole river), whereas in the past it was accepted the boundary ran down the center of the river.  So they said no more non-Indian fishing.
