Climbing sticks advice?
« on: August 28, 2022, 04:06:54 PM »
Anyone use these?

I currently use a climbing tree stand but was exposed to these recently.  Would appreciate any and all advice on their use as well as brand recommendations.  They really appeal to me over putting foot pegs in the tree when using a hang on.

I will have my climber pre staged and wanted these to get mobile.

Thanks!

I like the lone wolf climbing sticks, light weight and a set of four nest together for ease of transport.

I just hung my first set, they seem really sturdy. The're the most generic square tubing kind, but not too heavy to take a reasonable distance. I think they're "Rivers Edge Grip Stick Climbing Stick". I've used an additional ratchet strap because I'm paranoid.

I only have the stand up at about 9' which makes me feel a little bit more at ease, I'll add the 3rd stick soon enough.

I use a set of 4 for ease of setting a stand up, couldnt tell you the brand but they are aluminum and light. I use them in conjunction with some steps in the bottom of tree as I try to be atleast 21' or higher.

Thanks guys...

I am going to try out some XOP sticks and add some aiders.  Will report back after the season.  Maybe we could all use this thread to give a review on whatever brand we picked.  Good luck all.

I use them all the time to set trail cams.  Getsem up where people dont usually look and cant mess with them.  I use the Hawk Helium.  They nest together and are fairly light, boots grip the steps firmly and they never move after install.  Very happy with them.

I have the Muddy Outdoors Pro Aluminum  4 pack.  They nest together well and not to heavy to pack in.  Used them last year and only issue I had is one of the ropes started to fray a bit.  The other 3 have held up well.  So this year I am using the frayed on at the bottom :).
