Bear calling question
« on: May 20, 2009, 05:08:08 PM »
So I am going to play around with Bearmanric's calls next week.  What are the thoughts about putting a decoy of some kind out?  I have a flapping woodpecker, and a little varmint kinda thing that twists on a stick.

Good idea? Poor idea?

Decoys can be very effective for keeping the bears attention off of you.

If I was going to use a decoy for bear I would stick to a fawn decoy :twocents:

I vote for the fawn decoy. It would be nice to find one with a bobble-head. Some movement would be good, especially if using a mouth call. I have been using the fawn decoy from Cabelas.

that makes more sense. im thinking of doing a moose trip up in Canada next year, i think you can add wolf for pretty cheap with most of the guides.

Cool, if I can find a cheap Fawn I'll go for it.  otherwise I'll go with my woodpecker.  I wonder if a coyote decoy would work.  He might see it and think competition...

Ummmmmm, rasbo, you are working on the King status for the YAR group, huh????  You are getting a good start... that mental picture is worse than wrong!!!!!   :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
