Great post, nice bear KillBilly! Your details make me feel like I was there.
I see one major problem in the retelling of your story though, a Marine running out of ammo? That has to be a tall tale!  :yike:
Only 2 defining forces sacrificed themselves for you:
The American Soldier and Jesus Christ. One died for your freedom, the other for your soul.

I was waiting for that one... I actually had three extra shells in my pocket earlier but had taken them out and put them in the door pocket. forgot and left them there.. However, as BTKR noted, when he turned approached the bear he turned around and saw that I had my knife in hand and ready.... now just picture that scrap going on..
Headlines: Ex Marine armed with knife attacts cute little brown bear.... :chuckle:
Some people spend their entire life wondering if they made a difference. Marines don't have that problem.

do you have him on your ignore list?

So, I take it the tikka is working for you. What load did you use?
And congrats on your bear

165gr Nosler Accubond with 64grs of IMR 4831 can't remember which powder right now. I will let you know when i get home tonight. It was shooting tight groups on the bench.

With all these bears hitting the ground, I'm getting antsy.  I've got to stop this working stuff and get out hunting more.

Congratulations, on the great bear and that was a good story.  I put two rounds into an elk once and watched him walk out of sight into the brush while searched my pockets for more ammo.  All I had was rounds for my other rifle.  The elk didn't go far but now I check my pockets before I start hiking.
