I use a Bolt as well. I squirt it with White Lithium Grease before every use.

I have to remove my Receiver hitch when not using it. It seems physically impossible for me to walk around my truck without bashing my shins into the receiver hitch  :bash:

When my wife started laughing at my bruised and busted shins, and replying
"you ran into your hitch thingy again, didn't you?"
It is just easier to remove then listen, over and over,  :chuckle:

I'm just fortunate I haven't killed myself, death by trailer hitch.  I had my huge weight distributor hitch on at work one time and security called and told me either take it off or move my truck.

 :yeah:
Saved my wife’s 4runner
I had her put an old stinger on
She didn’t want to
Sitting in traffic light turns, traffic not moving, guy behind us hits the gas and boom
Then we motion him to follow us out of the intersection into a business to exchange info
He pulled a u turn and hauled butt
As he was leaving his front end had big gash in it from the stinger
Called the cops
Never found him
No damage to the wife’s 4runner
I will always leave my hitch in for that reason

They are definitely good for that.

My son and I were heading home to Puyallup, on HW 167 in rush hour, stop and go traffic by the Jovita exit. We were going about 5 mph then stop, when BAM! We get hit from behind. I step out and walk back, there is a brand new with paper plates, Honda Accord impaled on my drop hitch. My ball when right through her hood. I ask the 50ish lady if she is OK. She is crying, and says "my husband is going to kill me, this is the replacement to my last car that I wrecked!" I look at my rig, not even a scratch. I tell her I see no need to file a report unless she wishes to. She said no, she was fine. She gets in her car and starts backing up. Her engine sounded horrible. My ball ripped right out through her hood again. Huge gaping hole in the middle of her hood!
I drove off wondering how far she got. Part of me wished to hear her husband's response,  :chuckle:

My wife and I were coming home in heavy traffic after a St. Louis Blues game in my older Jimmy.  A young gal crashed into the back of us and my hitch went right through her radiator.  She pulled back and it was ugly.  Her dad called me the next morning asking to not file a police report or Ins. claim.  I said no problem, there was no damage.
