Columbia River South Jetty Question
« on: March 31, 2022, 04:03:11 AM »
Do I need an Oregon fishing license to fish the south jetty? I thought I heard from a few people in the past that a Washington license was valid here due to reciprocity rules. However, searching through the regulations for Washington, I can't find mention of this? Any help?

You really need to look at the regs and maybe the charts to verify where the lines are drawn for jurisdiction. I would be careful about making ANY decision based upon what a forum says!
I just went through this in a different location, and learned some things I had not known. Plus, once I got it figured out and settled, I am confidant I will not loose my license because of a 'silly' violation.

When angling within three miles of shore from Cape Falcon, OR to Leadbetter Point, WA, or in the waters of the Columbia River where it forms the Oregon-Washington boundary both Washington and Oregon resident fishing licenses are valid. Any anglers other than Washington residents must have a valid Oregon angling or shellfish license when landing fish or taking shellfish by boat in Oregon.

That makes it sound like "on the water" "in the waters" not from shore.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

Where'd you find that? I see similar text in the online pamphlet, but not verbatim. And I agree with 7mmfan ... the wording makes it sound like it applies to being in a vessel only.
