Best long range shooting rangefinder???

I currently use the Sig Kilo 2000 and love it.  I've had it for 5-6 years and it is starting to get old.  Looking to upgrade it and want to know what people think is the best rangefinder for consistently hitting ranges at 2000+ yards under optimal conditions and 1000 yards in less than optimal.  Not interested in range finding binoculars.

A buddy of mine was showing off his Leica Rangemaster (Don't recall the exact model, maybe 2400 or 2800) a few months ago and I was quite impressed.  However, with my eyes, I have no need for such a unit.  My Leupold 1000 yarder does what I need.

I was between this and a newest Sig. I emailed Revic (Gunwerks) asking why I should choose the Revic over the Sig 2400. Here is their response:

The BR4 does have doppler profiles for a lot of the bullets - most Hornady and some Berger. what you're going to see over the Sig is ranging capability to over 2 miles on non-reflective surfaces (so long as it is a solid background (think hillside, not flat prairie)), capability to work with a BDC or yardage based turret setup, and a very intuitive display with wind velocity and vector handled on the RF itself (which applies spin drift and aerodynamic jump).

Price wise, it is very similar in price to the Sig Kilo 8K.  I was really considering the Sig Kilo 5K but don't know if I need all the options they offer.  Wish they just made a 4-5K without all the BS app stuff.

Just unpacked the Sig 8k for my son today.   I’ve neen running the sig2400abs for 4 years, several 900+ yards kills and lots of 1000 yard target shots with it.

The 8k improvements over the 2400abs are slightly better ranging - 2k deer, 2500 yd tree, 8k reflective per specs.
Fog mode and extreme mode added.  2400abs did not like any fog.
Display shows Moa and equivalent yards at same time.
Basemap integration  so you can range game and it will mark their location on your phones basemap.  Very useful when you are in the timber trying to sneak up on bull you spotted 1.25 miles away across canyon.

Like any rangefinder in bright sunlight or looking towards sun range will be reduced.   Bright glare the 2400 was challenged at 1000 yards at times and rarely ranged past 2k.  Haven’t tested the 8k yet.

If the Zeiss bino came in 12x that would be my choice.

Curious why RF binos are out, I wouldn’t trade my Geovids for anything….is it just for ELR target type shooting?

I use the sig 2400,I love it.The glass works great and the zoom is good enough to reach out there.The best thing about it is i have it paired to my cell phone and use the BDX app.Everything about it is awesome.

I have some cheap thing.
Only a 1000 yard one ,in a real world situation it will only range about 500 -600 yards.
The biggest thing I think is some kind of reflecting target.
For the range finder to bounce off of.
Like I can put a reflective target up and shoot to a 1000 yard.
But if it's a game animal I've only got the 5 -600 yard that my range finder will give accurate range.

Yeah the rangefinding binos are where it’s at anymore. I currently run the 10x Zeiss RFs and they’re spectacular. In bad conditions I can regularly hit deer around 900. In the best I’ve gotten Rangers out past 2700 yards. Glass Is nothing short of amazing and it’s all one unit. Plus they’ll give you drops out as far as you can range. I’d sure like to try the EL range TAs next

Use it for archery and shooting, but I'm not poking out there like you are, not my current hobby.  It seems robust, I've had it filthy, muddy and full of brush, cobwebs and pine needles.  Glass is good and clear and it seems to mark way out there.

My sig kilo 2000 crapped out in October,  5 yrs 2mths.  They don't warranty it.  So was looking at the Leica but bought the vortex razor 4000.  Easily ranges to 2k and warrantied.

My friend owns and uses the Revic...I personally got to use it for my antelope hunt last fall. Loved it. Between the three of us, we had the Revic, a pair of Leica bino range finders and now I have the Vortex range finding binos. I'll say this: revic was awesome. Great for one click for range, two clicks for dope (or vice versa). Super simple, super easy. Having my vortex Fury 5000 AB's...They're all similar. I bought the binos because I didn't want binos and a range finder, wanted an all in one.

The revic has a great warranty and the people of GW are great to work with. I've personally been to their shop multiple times and have met everyone from Aaron down to the everyday man. A 7 year warranty on electronics is about as good as you'll find (except vortex), so buy once cry once and have fun!!

Tried the Revic out yesterday and really liked it. The 12X zoom is nice. The interface is easy to use and synced up with the ballistic profile data I put in to the app on my iPhone. I ranged out to 1,100 yards no problem. I kind of forgot to try and range further, we were there focusing on my buddies new rifle. It is a little bit bigger unit compared to the Sigs. One of the features it has the others don’t is a wind hold in the display of the RF. You don’t have to go to your app to calculate. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the ones mentioned!

Since I don't shoot over 450 yards and shoot a 30-06, I use a Nikon 100i rangefinder. Realistically it reads out to 750 for readings. It works well for archery 3D shoots and reads incline/decline. For $200 I've been more than pleased with this rangefinder.

I didn't see mention of Revic working with basemaps?  Thats a feature where what you range is marked on your basemap or onX map.   Say you have an animal 1500 yards away you want to sneak up on or a closer one down.  Range it and follow your map.  Hopefully a lot more accurate than trying to manually mark a waypoint on your map manually.

I've sent in recommendations to basemap, onx and Gohunt to be able to do things like that.  Say I range an animal at 1200 yards, I can get a fairly accurate compass bearing either with a compass or my phone.  It would be great if you could go into the map and tell it you want a waypoint at 1200 yards, 305 degrees from my current position.  It should be trivial to add that feature.

Doing it directly with the rangefinder would be even better, obviously assuming the bluetooth or whatever happened to be working and you were willing to commit the shorter battery life to having it running on both your phone and rangefinder all the time.

You lucky dog!!!   I also had the kilo 2000 and loved it.  It was about 5 years old wrote it started giving me grief.  I paid full price for the 5k  and so far have been plenty happy.   

Really wanted the br4 but just couldn’t justify the cost for the type of shooting I do.

No, only had it about three weeks and just been playing with it at the range.

I played with the remote marker/ BaseMap thing yesterday.   Even with very close range <100 yards it’s off every time.   App doesn’t seem to understand the difference between true north and magnetic north.   Pretty much every time I had to adjust marker 30degrees clock wise.   Not happy with base maps but the range finder is awesome

I bought one of the maven rangefinders this year and havent hunted with it yet but I am able to range rocks at 2200+ yards, non reflective targets well over 1000 yards.

Glass is great for a range finder. My only gripe is that its pretty big for a range finder but still easily operable with one hand.

i was going to grab the 2400abs, but after quite a few reviews regarding the basemap functionality, im sticking with my sig2k until they figure it out.

2400ABS doesn't support it and is discontinued.  The 8k is latest and greatest model.

Apparently the compass in the rangefinders was designed to just be good enough to compute corialis but is not very accurate.  The basemap remote marker is really an arc if you range it a few times.   sucky.

The 10k is the new flag ship for sig

The range finder doesn’t actually set the mark.  Just the distance from you.  You have to use the phone’s camera to actually decide where the mark goes.  Thankfully you can adjust it after the fact but what a pain.   In some situations it could be help full and others just down right frustrating if not useless

You can use basemap with bluetooth rangefinders using your phones compass like in Jasnts video.  The latest Sigs use the compass in the rangefinder instead for a more seamless solution.  BUT apparently the built-in compass in the Sig is not so great so either way so its still early tech.   

The Sig 10k is their Binoculars.  Wish they weren't so clunky looking.   I went with the Leica Pro 32's, 4 oz lighter.  But might change my mind - have had very good luck with the Sig 2400abs.

I know the OP said they weren't interested in RF Binos but since the Sig 10K's were mentioned here's a pretty good right up and review of them and if any of you know Shawn then you already know he doesn't sugar coat things at all so these 10K's may be worth taking a look at.

I too have the Kilo 2000. I've had it for about 4yrs. Hopefully this isn't the year it poops out. But with all this rangefinging talk, I think I would entertain the Kily 5k or the Vortex 4000.

My experience with 8k vs Revic.
Pros.
8k has a great screen to look at. Numbers and letters are clear and easy to read.
Longest range so far is a building at 3517yds.
Ranges targets relatively quick at 1500-2500 in most conditions. Mostly I just hold button down till it captures.
Phone app is easy to use and sync.
Has been very consistently accurate with its ballistic solutions to 1000yds maybe good for more but haven't tested much past that.
 Revic:
Screen not as easy to read as 8k.
Picks up targets a bit easier (faster) I think than 8k.
Seemed to work better in for than the 8k. 600yds vs 450yds in my test.
App is good.
I think they both work great and will give solutions farther than anyone should be shooting animals which is why most people buy them.
Can't go wrong with either
