Colockum seasonal closure
« on: March 16, 2022, 03:52:04 PM »
“implementing a seasonal closure at the Naneum/Colockum Road Management Area in Chelan County, and other administrative map updates.”

Just saw a news release WDFW is considering seasonal closures. I can’t seem to find what dates they are proposing. Anyone know what they are discussing?

For fawning and/or calving protection maybe?  They do that in 218 and I assume other areas during fawning season.

Other roads in Chelan County get shut down to prevent road damage during the spring time. Wondering if it has anything to do with that. If so, could impact youth turkey season.

Where in 218 do they shut down roads during "fawning" season? That would be the end of May through June.

Don't remember exactly where without looking at maps, but there were 2 roads open during deer season that had signs on them where they were closed during fawning season.  One of them was right on Goat Creek Road, a giant green gate with the sign.  The other was up a few mile of Goat Creek, up a bit higher.  Same deal, giant green gate with the sign.  Never was up there that time of year to verify, but the signs were there.

Exactly, I've never heard of roads being shut down for "fawning season" in 218, ever! If roads were shut down with signs saying that, I would be tempted to bet the farm it was because of "something else"... :twocents:

Possibly but anyone who has traveled the upper basin loop road up to the Schaller knows how bad that road gets during and just after the melt occurs. It used to be the preferred route over Jumpoff Rd. but no more. Everyone I know would rather travel the longer route  now. So I can kind of see it. Your thoughts Nock Nock?
