Dual Purpose Waders
« on: April 07, 2022, 09:42:13 AM »
Hello, I am looking for a reasonably priced set of waders that I can used for waterfowl hunting, as well as for fishing from my float tube. I bought fins that have a very generous foot opening just so I could use boot-foot waders in them. Just the same, I'd like to keep the waders as small and light as possible, while still providing enough "stoutness" for duck hunting. I'm actually trying to find a way to NOT have to buy two sets of waders. Thanks.

Any set will work, but would need to be better for fishing. River rock will put demand on traction that waterfowling waders just cannot meet. You will though sacrifice durability. Temperatures are only going to be an issue for your feet. You would be surprised how long a cheap set of boot foots can last that are made for hunting. $90 every three seasons seems fair enough to me.

Thanks metlhead. What bootfoot waders do you use?

I made a pair of hand-me-down hodgeman sock foot waders last 3 seasons. They leaked like a collander after the last season from all the sticks you run into duck hunting.

My boot foots are a cheap set of Whites. Lined fabric, not neoprene. Two waterfowl seasons with a lot of hunts, and just a damp spot that got glazed over with some silicone. I need stocking foot for fishing, and one season of very cold and painful feet from sitting in the mud told me they were a no go.
