Daughters youth turkey
« on: April 07, 2022, 08:00:29 PM »
Spring break and youth turkey lined up this year so off to the cabin we went.  First morning rolled around and of course, the kids want to sleep in……after all it is spring break.   I wake up and look out the window to see two toms strutting their stuff in the driveway about 80 yards out…..WAKE UP!!!!   the scramble to get up and dressed begins.  My son refuses to get up so my daughter obliged, probably more for me than for her.. :chuckle: :chuckle:

15 minutes later we are sneaking down the driveway to get set up and call.  The Tom’s have wondered off, but I’m confident we can get them back.  Half hour later and there are no toms….all is silent.   Well crap!!   Move down the driveway some more and try again…..NOPE, no birds….just a cold daughter.   Defeated we head back to the cabin.   As we approach I notice two toms in the food plot!!!!! :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:

We sneak to the barn and take up cover behind the man door.  I call and they gobble.  I call some more and they decide to come running.   About 20 yards out….boom bird down.  The barn has worked well for a blind a couple times now…. :chuckle: :chuckle:

Now we wait for the general season to fill more tags.  My son never did want to wake up early enough to get after the birds.  The mornings were crisp and the birds were vocal.  Should be another good year of dirty bird hunting.

I love this site.....but one of the dumbest things I have ever had to deal with is posting pictures.  Seams like such an easy thing.... :bash: :bash: :bash:  Drives me absolutely nuts when the pics won't post right side up.  Tried fixing it three times.... :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

Dumb problem for a site that values photos to have in my opinion.   :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

Nice bird, congrats to both of you!

I fixed the photo by taking a screen shot with my laptop, rotating the photo, then deleting your photo and adding the new rotated photo.

My apple phone posts a lot of photos sideways too, I don't know why? There is another software upgrade for the forum coming soon that's supposed to upgrade a few things, hopefully that photo issue will be fixed.
