Republic/collevile where to camp!?
« on: April 09, 2022, 01:47:57 PM »
Hey all,

Buddy and I are headed out for a week to do the turkey opener here soon. I'm planning on pulling my 24ft trailer abd am having a tough time finding a spot to camp. Not needing a campground or rv specific site, we can dry camp anywhere we fit. Going to be near ish to Sherman pass and was hoping someone might have some decent spots to park and camp. Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone  :)

Any forest service road that's not too high should have plenty of options. Republic side I'd say Hall creek or Karamip. The other side of pass maybe bangs mtn rd or S sherman rd.

The best of both worlds!  Camping, but in a warm & dry trailer!!  Sounds like fun.

Little Pend Oreille refuge is kinda nice

The Refuge is nice, but hunted hard and limited campsites. You cannot disperse camp there outside of a campground except for deer season. Last year the refuge was full. One guy with a big trailer and several kids tents and toys set up on a dispersed site.

The LE  made  him pack it all up and move. Don’t know where he went because every site was taken.

Felt sorry for him. But you got a read the rules. They enforce them there. Also no off road rigs allowed there. One guy showed up with a 4 x 4 on a trailer and the LE told him he could not remove from the trailer inside the refuge.

I wouldn't leave that trailer in the forest.

I would grab any RV spot you can find in a park.

Starvation Lake campground just outside colville is a nice campground run by the state you should be able to find a spot at. Good access to the refuge and other land that hold turkey.

Bad theft out there? I usually use a big tongue lock so it's not left just to grab

Nah I'm talking people breaking in and taking anything they can sell. Battery and propane will be gone.

They will know you are a turkey hunter and will be gone most of the day.

No one else is taking a trailer in the woods right now.

The RV park in Northport should have some spots if you can't stay in Colville.
