are they really spawning though? they are lahontans right?
Lahontans should be done by now though.
yeah but they're not actually spawning. they just think they are. they're sterile.
Blue lake lahontans are way later than Lenore Lahotans. Gotta remember ice out is probably at least a month later. Maybe even more this year. The blue lake I am talking about is just passes Wannacut which is to the right and up as you are headed to Loomis. There might be one lower too. Its essentiall straight up the mountain from Oroville.
The blue lake that I'm familiar with is just north of fish lake towards Loomis. I know that a few years back they poisoned it to get rid of some undesirable fish. I haven't fished it since but used to love it. I trolled around with a Cary special and did well. Another close spot to check out is Chopaka Lake. It's not that far away and well worth the trip up to it. Leave close to dusk and watch the animals all the way down.
smallmouth all the way!

I'm with ya on Chopaka, not to minimize Blue but Chopaka is beautiful and full of huge trout, if you're out there it would be a shame not to drive up the hill and hit Chopaka. And if you're not a fly fishing purist you should swing into Palmer and hit a few Smallmouth. The Sinlehekin is a great recreational resource....Coon
