Opener and beyond
« on: April 15, 2022, 12:38:34 PM »
So I am up in the NE corner a got done with my first 2 hunters.  Doubled up.  Got it on video that come later.  They didn't want to notch and second tag being it is easter weekend.  They packed up and headed west.  Stats.  One turkey 24 lbs, only one spur at 7/8" and 8.5" beard.  Second bird was 22 lbs, one spur was 1 1/4" and other was 1 1/2", double beard one was 9" and other was 6".  New turkey hunter tomorrow with 2 tags and only Saturday to hunt.  I will be in Loon Lake till Thursday so will have time to hunt for myself.  Then pack up the trailer and head to Kettle Falls the next weekend for a mentor hunt there.

Nice!  We got close to 5 inches here last night and this morning.  Birds were quiet this morning.

This morning.   First time turkey hunter.   2 birds one shot. One was a jake so no pic of it but this is another nice tom.  10.5" beard until we went to the truck.   Couple places of beard came off.  9.5 now.  3/4"spur 19lbs.

I notched a tag and so did Jesse.  Funny thing on Jesse he somehow shot the beard off.  We found it.  11"

Jesse nothed his second tag the next day which I forgot to post after the last on.  Today at a first hinter turkey camp put on by First Hunt Foundation.  NWTF and WDFW partner up with them.  My mentee day one 6:47 this morning.  He wants to use his other tag in Tucannon so one and done here.  His first turkey ever.  17.56 lbs 8.5 " beard and 1/2" spurs.
