Maybe, maybe not. There is a number to call on the collar to call to verify that the meat is safe to eat. They want the drugs used to sedate the animal for tagging to be out of the system.

It depends on when they were tranquilized. Don't recall what the length of time was since they were darted. This was for moose.

Once asked a Cali bio about an elk with an ear tag that stated "Do not consume before xx/xx/xxx". He said the safe interval for the tranquilizer drug they used was 30 days. Different drugs might need more or less time.

The bios should be able to tell you if there are animals that have been recently darted in the area.
