Ok, guys I need help.
« on: May 28, 2022, 11:38:11 PM »
Long story short, I took a bear this evening in Idaho. We are set to leave back to Washington tomorrow morning (sun) and I'm trying to figure out how to get it checked and tagged. All the offices are closed tomorrow and probably Monday due to the holiday. I really don't feel like taking time off work and driving 7.5hrs back to Idaho from home. I guess if it's my only option I'll have no choice. I'm just wondering if anyone here knows any way to get it checked on the weekends?  Are there any 3rd party options or any way to contact on-duty Idaho game wardens? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I wonder if a taxidermy could do the appropriate paperwork? Maybe call one.

I'm not trying to be a jack wagon.
If your hunting out of state, spending time and money to do it was part of the plan all along.
Eat at some nice places, rent a nice room,
Hard work is done, make a vacation out of it.
Enjoy it,work will still be there when you get back.

I'll go out on a limb and say there's a gamey working somewhere within a couple hours of you.  Call local law enforcement and someone should be able to get you slicked up.  Guarantee if you poached that bear someone would show up to say HI!  It's a 24-7 operation

Call the local police and tell them you may have shot a grizzly. Warden will be there fairly quickly.
Politicians like Jay Inslee are the reason we have the 2nd Amendment

:yeah:

This maybe your best option, in fact if you do this and leave your name and license number in the message they will come check it for you at your house. This will keep you on your schedule, and they will prioritize you accordingly. :chuckle:

The local taxidermy shops can all pretty much check bears. There’s a weird store in Hayden also that sells hides and horns that is also a check station. I will try and post the store number on here. Call some taxidermy shops
